What are the Benefits of an Automatic Bio-Ethanol Burner?

Safe, Cost-Effective, and Easy to Use

An automatic ethanol burner is a bio-ethanol burner that offers the advantage of being ignited electronically. The ignition process is controlled by an electric starter that can be operated using a remote control or an app. The automatic bio-ethanol burner is equipped with a pump that draws bio-ethanol from an external tank. The tank containing bio-ethanol can be located either within the device or externally. This makes it a convenient and user-friendly ethanol burner.

The installation of the automatic ethanol burner requires a professional installer and it is packed with electronics. Similar to a gas fireplace, these automatic burners require maintenance. It's advisable to consider purchasing a maintenance contract right after buying one. A separate tank or jerry can of bio-ethanol should be stored in a cool place.

For automatic burners, there hasn't been a European Norm (EN) developed yet. Carrying a CE logo is not a certification. The CE logo merely indicates that the product, usually manufactured in China, is allowed on the European market. The absence of a standard results in significant variations in quality.

Now, let's compare this burner with a ceramic burner.

  • The ceramic ethanol burner is produced in Europe according to EN 16647:2015 and certified by Kiwa and TÜV.
  • The ceramic ethanol burner requires no maintenance.
  • The ceramic ethanol burner is easily installable by oneself.
  • Ethanol evaporates. A liter bottle has minimal evaporation, but with large jerry cans, there can be a substantial amount of gas, potentially leading to a significant explosion hazard.
  • Purchase price, maintenance costs.

Is the automatic burner merely a fancy gadget then?

The most significant advantage of the automatic ethanol burner compared to a ceramic burner is refilling. A ceramic burner doesn't have an external tank; you fill the burner with bio-ethanol manually. The most common ceramic burner model has a capacity of 2 liters. An automatic burner has an internal tank or a filling system attached to a jerry can. The most common jerry can size is 5 liters.

The Large ceramic burner consumes 0.5 to 0.6 liters per hour. A comparable automatic burner consumes 1 liter per hour. This means the bio-ethanol burner is half as efficient in consumption!

With a ceramic burner, you need to open the burner's slide and ignite it using an electric lighter. To extinguish, you manually close the slide. With an automatic burner, you shut off the supply using a remote control.

An automatic ethanol burner is particularly appealing when you need to use it for multiple shorter periods. A ceramic ethanol burner is safer, more cost-effective in both acquisition and usage.
